Trekking in Terskei-Ala-Too range

Notes: The participants of the trip should be well experienced hikers.
This tour is a great opportunity for those who are in good health, can handle an acclimatization at the height of 4000 meters, can hike for 4 to 5 hours a day and is up for challenge!
Trek: 4 days
Program:

Day 1 Bishkek- Issyk-Kul

Upon arrival group will be met by a guide at Manas International Airport. Usually international flights arrive in early morning and leave enough time for a long transfer to Karakol town 400 km from the airport. After lunch in a cafe the road goes along the shore of Issyk-Kul lake, called the pearl of Tien-Shan.

This is the second largest alpine lake in the world surrounded by snow capped peaks of 5000 meters high. Upon arrival in Karakol you will be accommodated in a private guesthouse or small hotel and offered a delicious home made dinner.

Day 2 Jeti-Oguz

After breakfast a short drive to the picturesque Jety Oguz valley. The Next stage is a trek up the Telety valley through fir tree forests. Lunch on the bank of the mountain river. After lunch continue the trek by the valley floor to the foothills of the Telety pass. Dinner. Overnight in tents.
 
The Jety Oguz valley is famous with its natural tourist spots such us "Broken heart of the young beauty"- a clay cliff which has the appearance of broken heart and the “seven bulls” cliffs.

Day 3 Telety pass

Breakfast. Trek over Telety pass (3800 m) with a fascinating view of some of the highest peaks of the Terskey Ala-Too mountain range. Lunch upon descent from the pass. Trek down to the Karakol valley trough fir tree forests. Dinner around a campfire. Overnight in tents near the Karakol river.

Karakol valley is a wooded canyon ending with Karakol peak (5218 m).

Day 4 Alakol valley
Breakfast. Hike to the upper grounds of the Karakol valley where you will see a small lake, with Karakol peak in background. Hike back to the camp and have lunch. Trek down the Karakol valley floor to the beginning of Alakol valley. Trek up the Alakol valley to the "Sirota" camping site. Dinner around a campfire. Overnight in tents.

Day 5 Altyn-Arashan
Breakfast. Trek over the Alakol pass (3860 m) with a great panoramic view of the snow capped peaks of Tien-Shan mountains. Lunch after the pass. Continue trekking to Altyn-Arashan valley. Final dinner with trek crew around a campfire. Overnight in tents.

"Altyn Arashan" is Kyrgyz for "golden springs" and famous for its natural curative sulphur hot springs.

Day 6 Karakol
Breakfast. Meet the vehicle. Drive to Karakol. Switching vehicle to comfortable air-conditioned bus. There follows a long day drive to Bishkek with a possible stop for swimming in lake Issyk-Kul. Lunch in a roadside cafe on the way. Upon arrival in Bishkek, accommodation in hotel or guest house. Dinner.

Day 7 Bishkek
Early breakfast. Transfer to airport. Departure.

Day 6 Tamga

Breakfast. Meet the vehicle. Drive to the place for switching vehicle to comfortable air-conditioned bus. Drive along the southern shore of Issyk-Kul lake to Tamga village. Lunch. Rest at the shore. Dinner. Overnight at the guest house run by a local family.

Day 7 Bishkek
Breakfast. Drive to the Skazka (Fairy tale) gorge. Explore the area. Drive to Bokombaevo. Lunch. Demonstration of eagle hinting. Drive to Bishkek. Accommodation at the hotel.

Day 8 Bishkek
Breakfast. Short city tour. Lunch. Afternoon visit Ala-Archa gorge. Drive back to Bishkek. Overnight at the hotel.

Bishkek does not apply for being one of the largest cities of the world as London, Paris or Moscow, but, nevertheless, capital of the Kyrgyz Republic attracts visitors by its parks, museums, galleries and theatres.

Ala Archa National Park is only about 40 km from the city center of Bishkek. Ala Archa is alpine gorge flanked by tall, snow-covered peaks with forested mountain slopes. It is a favorite spot amongst the citizens of Bishkek


Day 9 Departure
Breakfast. Airport transfer. Departure. End of services.

Day 6 Tamga

Breakfast. Meet the vehicle. Drive to the place for switching vehicle to comfortable air-conditioned bus. Drive along the southern shore of Issyk-Kul lake to Tamga village. Lunch. Rest at the shore. Dinner. Overnight at the guest house run by a local family.

Day 7 Kochkor
Breakfast. Drive to the Skazka (Fairy tale) gorge. Explore the area. Drive to Bokombaevo. Lunch. Demonstration of eagle hinting. Drive to Kochkor village. Overnight at the home stay.

Kochkor is a small village famous for its handicrafts and carpets makers.

Day 8 Son-Kul
Breakfast. Drive to the remoteness lake Son-Kul. Lunch at the yurt. Explore the area. Overnight at the yurt camp. Thee is an opportunity to ride horses.

Son-Kul Lake is a beautiful lake located on a high-mountainous plateau (3016m). In summertime shepherds bring their livestock to the pastures and establish yurts on the coast of the lake. A yurt is the typical dwelling of nomads made from felt, wood and leather and is thought to symbolize a life.

Day 9 Tash- Rabat
Breakfast. Drive to Tash- Rabat, ancient caravan- Sarai. Lunch in Naryn city. Explore the area. Dinner at the yurt. Overnight at the yurt camp.

The Caravan-Sarai Tash-Rabat (XI century) served as a fortress and worship place for travelers on the Great Silk Road. It represents carefully restored stone building

Day 10 Naryn
Breakfast. Drive to Naryn city. Lunch. City tour. Dinner. Overnight at the guest house.

Naryn is a frontier small town famous for the best quality shyrdaks, hidden in the mountains and stretched along the coast of the fast-rushing river with the same name.

Day 11 Bishkek
Breakfast. Drive to Bishkek. Lunch and demonstration of shyrdak(national felt carpet) producing in Kochkor village. Continue driving to Bishkek. Visit Burana Tower on the way. Dinner. Overnight at the hotel.

Burana Tower is situated 10 km to the South of Tokmok (60 km from Bishkek), the tower is all that remains of the ancient city of Balasugan set at the foot of the Shamshy valley. Established in the 10th century on the site of an older settlement, the city was the birthplace of the poet Jusup Balasugyn (1015-?) who wrote an epic poem called Katadgu Bilig («The knowledge which brings happiness»), which has been translated into several languages, including a recent translation into English by Walter May.

Day 12 Bishkek
Breakfast. City tour. Lunch and dinner at the city’s cafes. Overnight at the hotel.

Day 13 Ala- Archa
Breakfast. Transfer to the National Park Ala-Archa. Hiking in the gorge. Picnic lunch. Transfer back to Bishkek. Dinner. Overnight at the hotel.
